Well, i've taken the plunge and am getting married in the summer, obviously the honeymoon is a great excuse to surf some foreign lands and i was hoping to obtain some knowledge and ideas.

Here's the criteria:

Clean surf but not too big, i'm still a beginner and a bit cowardly.
Not too hot, e.g. anything over 30oC is gonna melt my ultra bright white skin.
Other stuff to do, gotta keep the misses happy - e.g. a bit of local culture, some trekking etc etc

I have thought about Bali, is it horribly commercial? Need some ambience!?

Oh, please don't suggest lowestoft or East Runton holiday park!

All ideas much appreciated.

Tom

How long have you both got off? If you have 3 weeks+ and were prepared to wait perhaps until September (their Spring) then Australia and or New Zealand might fit the bill (and it would be a big one! )

Barbados sounds/looks awesome. Any ideas on august temps? Are there any beginners wave spots? How costly is it over there?

Cheers Fella!

Think its going to be 30c+ most of the time.  Waters about 28c.  It's actually a pretty easy going place surf wise (except for Soup Bowl & a few other breaks) as it averages 2-3ft.  Mostly reefs off the beach. but nothing too gnarly.  Friendly locals (one guy decided to drive us round the Island for 2 weeks just for fun!), good food beatiful surroundings.  It's cheap to get too but can be expensive out there (its all tied to the yank $) but you can get fish & rice cheap as well as loads of fresh fruit off the sellers on the roadside.  Some pics here...
